Getting Started
Install the plugin
Open Figma and go to the Community tab. Search for Snappattern (or "Seamless Pattern Generator") and click Install.

Select one or more layers on your canvas. The plugin clones them and applies your pattern settings. Component instances unlock variant options (Random or Sequence).
Pick Repeater or Grid
Use Repeater for linear or spiral patterns. Use Grid for rows × columns with spacing. Configure controls in the panel.
Generate
Click Generate patterns or Generate grid. The plugin creates clones and applies transformations. Run again to replace the previous pattern.
Repeater Mode
Repeater clones your selection in a line or spiral. Each clone gets offset position, rotation, opacity, and optional scale changes.
Appearance
- Amount — 2–100 clones.
- Distance — Pixels between clones. Direction scales with this.
- Rotation — Degrees added per clone (e.g. 10° for a spiral).
Direction
Use the direction pad to set x and y. The plugin uses these with distance to place each clone.
Style
- Opacity — Start and end values. Opacity interpolates across clones.
- Scaling — Width and height % change per clone.
Grid Mode
Grid fills a rows × columns layout. Set spacing, then choose how rotation, scale, and opacity vary per cell.
Grid
Rows, columns, x-spacing, and y-spacing define the layout. Each cell gets one clone.
Rotation
- Random — Pick an angle from the sequence (e.g. 0, 90, 180, 270).
- Sequence — Cycle through angles by position in the grid.
- Noise — Perlin noise for smooth, organic variation across the grid.
Scale
- XY — Scale changes with position (gradient across the grid).
- Random — Pick a value from a comma-separated list (e.g. 1, 0.5, 0.25).
- Range — Random scale between min and max.
Opacity
Range — Start and end; interpolates across cells. Random — Pick from comma-separated values (e.g. 10, 20, 30, …, 100).
Component Variants
When you select component instances from a component set, the plugin can change variant properties across clones.
- Random — Each clone gets a random variant from the component set.
- Sequence — Clones cycle through variants in order (repeater: by index; grid: by row×col position).
Tips
Regenerate replaces the pattern
Each run clears the previous pattern and creates a new one. Adjust settings and generate again until you get the look you want.
Start with a single element
Use one icon, shape, or component as the seed. The plugin handles the repetition.
Use noise for organic grids
Noise rotation avoids the rigid look of random/sequence. Good for foliage, confetti, scatter.
Opacity + scale for depth
Combine fade (opacity) and size change (scale) for depth or focus effects.
