Getting Started
Install the plugin
Open Figma and go to the Community tab. Search for Table Creator (or "Import from Excel") and click Install.
Direct install linkOpen the plugin
In your Figma file, go to Main Menu → Plugins → Table Creator (or search by name). The plugin panel opens with tabs for Table, Cells, Text, Presets, and Import.
Choose your workflow
Use the Table tab to create a table from scratch with a visual grid selector, or switch to the Import tab to paste data, upload a file, or load from Google Sheets.
Create Table
In the Table tab you set the number of rows and columns, padding, corner radius, and whether to use placeholder content.
Visual grid selector
Click cells in the 10×10 grid to pick your table size. The first row is treated as the header. Selected cells are highlighted; hover to preview before clicking.
Placeholders
With Use Placeholders on, cells get sample text: Header 1, R1C1, etc. Turn it off for empty cells.
Import Data
The Import tab supports three modes: paste data, upload a file, or load from a Google Sheet.
Paste Data
Paste tab-delimited (Excel) or comma-separated (CSV) text. The plugin detects the format and parses it. First row becomes the header.
Upload File
Upload .csv, .xlsx, or .xls files. The first sheet is used. Row and column counts are taken from the data.
Google Sheet
Paste a Google Sheets URL. The sheet must be "Anyone with the link" viewable. The plugin fetches the first sheet via CSV export.
After importing, a preview shows the first few rows. Click Create Table to generate the styled table on the canvas.
Styling
Use the Cells tab for backgrounds, strokes, and dimensions. Use the Text tab for fonts, sizes, weights, colors, and alignment.
Cells tab
- Header / Cell background — Color pickers for header row and body cells.
- Alternate row colors — Toggle and color for striped rows.
- Stroke — Color, width, and style (solid or dashed).
- Cell height & horizontal padding — Per-cell sizing.
Text tab
- Header — Font, weight, size, color, alignment.
- Cell — Same controls for body cell text.
- Common Google Fonts are supported (Inter, Roboto, etc.).
Presets & Templates
Save your current styling as a preset, or use built-in templates. Filter by category, sort by name or date, and mark favorites for quick access.
Click a preset card to apply its styling. Use the save icon to store your current configuration. Favorites persist across sessions.
Tips
First row = header
Whether you create or import, the first row is always styled as the header with the header background and text settings.
Empty cells
Turn off Use Placeholders when creating from scratch if you want blank cells. Imported data keeps your values.
Google Sheets sharing
For Google import, set sharing to "Anyone with the link can view" (or publish to web) for reliable access.
Large tables
Very large imports may take a moment. The plugin creates native Figma frames — you can edit every cell after generation.
