Clearing the cache is the standard fix for a desktop app that opens to a blank white screen, which has its own forum thread with around 84k views. It's also worth trying when fonts or files behave oddly only in the app.
Quick steps
Open the Help menu
In the Figma desktop app, open the Help menu.
Go to Troubleshooting
Hover over Troubleshooting.
Reset Figma
Choose Reset Figma and Restart. The app closes, clears its cache and opens again.
Reopen your file
Open the file that was misbehaving. If the problem is still there, try the manual method or the browser.
How to clear Figma cache on Mac
Quit Figma completely first. Then open Terminal and run:
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma"
If you'd rather not use Terminal, open Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder, enter ~/Library/Application Support/, and move the Figma folder to the Bin. Then open Figma again.
How to clear Figma cache on Windows
- Quit Figma completely, including from the system tray.
- Press
Win+R, type%APPDATA%\Figmaand press Enter. - Delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders.
- Delete the font_cache and settings files.
- Open Figma again.
How to clear Figma cache in the browser
Browsers store Figma's data with the rest of the site data for figma.com. Clear the cookies and site data for figma.com in your browser's privacy settings, rather than wiping the whole browser, then reload. This signs you out of figma.com, so sign back in.
How to refresh Figma
Often a plain reload is enough. In a browser, reload the tab. In the desktop app, close the file tab and reopen it, or quit and relaunch. Figma's troubleshooting checklist also suggests force-quitting and opening the file in a fresh window.

Does clearing the Figma cache delete my files?
No. Figma files are stored online, not in the cache folders. Clearing the cache resets the app, so you may need to sign in again. Let unsynced changes finish saving before you quit.
Where is the Figma cache on Mac?
In ~/Library/Application Support/Figma. Quit Figma before deleting it.
Where is the Figma cache on Windows?
In %APPDATA%\Figma. Delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders and the font_cache and settings files while Figma is closed.
