Switch to the comment tool
Press C, or click the comment icon in the toolbar.
Click where the comment belongs
Click on the design. Comments attach to top-level frames, components or groups, so they stay with the design when it moves.
Write and post
Type your comment and press Enter to post it.
Resolve when it's done
Click the checkmark on the comment to resolve it. Resolved comments are hidden from the canvas by default.

Hiding comments with ⇧C clears them off the canvas while you work. It doesn't resolve or delete anything, and pressing it again brings them back.
Where comments attach
Comments pin to top-level frames, components or groups. When you move the frame, its comments move with it, so feedback stays next to the thing it's about. For the quickest comment, press C, click the spot, type, and press Enter.
Figma not showing comments?
When comments seem to be missing, Figma's help center lists four reasons. Check them in this order:
- They're hidden. Press
⇧C/Shift+Cto turn comments back on. - They're resolved. Resolved comments are hidden by default. Open the filter in the comments sidebar and turn on Show resolved comments.
- A filter is on. The same sidebar filter can limit which comments you see. Clear it.
- They're on another page. Comments belong to the page they were made on. Switch pages in the left sidebar.
How to remove comments in Figma
The usual way to clear a comment off the canvas is to resolve it with the checkmark. It disappears from view but stays available through Show resolved comments, so the history of a decision isn't lost.
Comments are for conversations: questions, feedback and replies, resolved once they're answered. Notes that should stay next to the design for developers, such as spacing, behaviour or accessibility details, work better as annotations. Figma's own annotation tool needs a paid plan, which Figma annotations covers. Our plugin Annomate draws annotations as regular canvas layers, so anyone who opens the file sees them.

What is the shortcut to add a comment in Figma?

How do I hide comments in Figma?
