Quick steps
Download the deck as PowerPoint
In Google Slides, open the deck and choose File > Download > Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx).
Open the Figma file browser
Go to your drafts or the team project where the deck should live. Anyone can import to drafts; team files need edit access.
Import the .pptx
Choose Import (under Create new), then Import from computer, select the .pptx and click Open. You can also drag the file into the file browser.
Wait for the conversion
Larger decks take longer. Click Done when the import finishes, then open the new Figma Slides file.
Fix fonts and missing content
Change the Inter text back to your fonts, and rebuild or re-upload any tables, diagrams and videos that didn't import.
What changes when you import Google Slides into Figma?
Figma's help center lists what the PowerPoint import leaves behind. Because a Google Slides deck goes through the same .pptx file, the same limits apply. Check each one before you present the deck.
- Fonts. All text becomes Inter, the Figma Slides default. Select the text and change it back. Google Fonts are already in Figma; any other font needs installing first (how to add fonts to Figma).
- Videos. Re-upload them with the media picker in Figma Slides.
- Tables and diagrams. Rebuild them in Figma, or paste a screenshot of the original.
- Animations. Not imported. Use Figma Slides' own transitions and object animations.
Speaker notes are worth checking too. Figma lets you edit presenter notes after an import, so compare them with the Google Slides original if you rely on them. If you'd rather hand out a PDF than present from Figma, see how to export a Figma PDF.
How to import Google Slides into Figma Design with a plugin
The native import always creates a Figma Slides file. To get the slides as frames in a Figma Design file, for a redesign or to reuse parts in a product file, use a plugin that reads .pptx:
- Pitchdeck Presentation Studio by Hypermatic (about 502,000 users): drop the .pptx into its Import .pptx area and the slides land as editable layers on a new page. Hypermatic's docs call the import a beta that handles slides, images, text, shapes, tables (text only) and speaker notes, but not charts, SmartArt or embedded video. Free to install, with paid Pro features.
- office.to.design by divRIOTS (about 27,000 users): imports PowerPoint, Keynote, Word and OpenDocument files as editable layers or images. The free plan covers 5 imports, with editable layers for the first 3 pages.
- FiPo (about 3,000 users): free, converts .pptx to editable Figma designs and keeps text styles, group structure and slide master styles, according to its listing. It's a newer plugin from a single developer.
Want the deck as a flat reference instead? Download it from Google Slides as a PDF and import it with a PDF plugin. How to import a PDF into Figma compares the options.
Ranked listThe best Figma Slides plugins in 2026Is there a Google Slides to Figma plugin that connects directly?
Not that we could confirm. The plugins in our catalog that import slides, including Pitchdeck, office.to.design and FiPo, all work from a downloaded .pptx file rather than signing in to Google. Downloading the .pptx takes a few seconds, so this adds one step rather than a whole workflow.
How to export Figma to Google Slides
Going the other way also runs through .pptx. Export the deck from Figma Slides as PPTX, then in Google Slides use File > Import slides and upload it. From a Figma Design file, a converter such as Convert by FeatPaper (about 11,000 users, free) writes an editable .pptx that opens in Google Slides, and it embeds the font files so the typeface survives. Figma to PowerPoint covers the export settings and what gets lost.
Google Slides vs Figma Slides: which should you use?
Use Google Slides when most of the people editing aren't designers, when the deck lives alongside Google Docs and Sheets, or when anyone with a Google account needs to edit it. Use Figma Slides when a design team owns the deck: it has a Design mode with auto layout and your team's Figma libraries, so components, styles and variables stay in sync with your product files, and it adds live polls and alignment scales for presenting.
Moving a deck into Figma makes sense when designers will maintain it from now on. For a one-off polish, it's often quicker to fix the deck in Google Slides than to rebuild tables and animations after an import.

Can I import Google Slides into an existing Figma file?
